Josh made the trip from his army base in Georgia to our location to get his 2003 Lancer Evolution GSR checked out and retuned. He originally purchased his car from California where he was stationed so he had what was supposed to be a 91 octane tune on the Evo. Josh purchased his car with most all of the modifications already on it. The mods were not necessarily the ones we would have chosen to the car. but we vouched to make the most of what was there.

From the looks of it, the car had a lot of older technology on it. From a 4 into 1 Tomei manifold to a 50 trim journal bearing turbo, some unknown cams, Apexi Power FC Commander with speed density and handheld programmer, an Apex AVCR boost controller and a catalytic converter. With today's current technology, a lot would have been able to be done with the factory ECU and all with safety of a knock sensor. With the turbo technology available, an FP Red would have run circles around this old 50 trim. Regardless we got to work and tried to lay down a baseline. The car misfired horribly off the bat and we immediately swapped out plugs and tried again. This solved the ignition issue. Unfortunately the AFR on this existing "91 octane" tune was into the 12's air fuel ratio in 4th gear so we knew we definitely needed to retune the car. Once all was said and done, the final tune on 93 and PowerFC ECU on 50trim was 360whp/359tw @ 1.00 uncorrected numbers on the Mustang Dyno. The 50trim would run out of breath at 6100rpms and just wasn't a great match for the setup.
